The Marion nine men were Alexander H. Curtis, Joey Pinch, Thomas Speed, Nickolas Dale, James Childs, Thomas Lee, John Freeman, Nathan Levert and David Harris. They attempted to give training to dark offspring of Marion. Curtis was the most compelling of the gathering and later drove the push to revamp Lincoln School into state foundation.
